Crystalline & Amorphous solids

  • Crystalline :
  • All the atoms or molecules are arranged in a regular and orderly fashion in all three dimensions.
  • The solids are in a ductile manner.
  • Solids behave elastically up to their yield points.
  • Tensile strength is high.
  • The Dislocation defects in crystals motion as possible.
  • Amorphous:-
  • All the atoms or molecules area arranged irregularly in all three dimensions.
  • The solids fracture in a brittle manner.
  • Solids do not behave elastically.
  • The tensile strength is low.
